About David

I'm David, a 14-year-old singer-songwriter living in West Michigan.

I learned to play the ukulele around the age of 8. I focused on that for several years. Recently, I felt a little limited and switched my focus to guitar. The two extra strings opened up an entirely new playing style.

At 10 years old, I performed at my first open mic. It was so exciting to see the joy that it brought to people, and from then on I was hooked! Knowing only 4 songs and wanting to go back drove me to learn new music. Eventually, open mics became a weekly thing. Being around other musicians pushed me to constantly improve and grow. By 12 years old, I was performing at a local ice cream shop.

Playing other people's music can be fun, but the real reward is writing my own music. I started playing around with a few things and showing them to friends at open mics, but I really started to grow as an artist when I joined a local songwriters' group.

My first talent show was Rockford's Got Talent. I took first place! I have also placed in the top three in the Ionia and Greenville shows.

In September 2026, I released my first EP, 8th Grade!
